Some of the planning on Adyna the Harlequin
Ancient Spellbook
Homecoming ApocalypseMany lives were spent during the war erasing Him from memory; desecrating His name and burning the remnants.
Stories from the time before Guthix speak of an Age of Darkness and that a matrix that was constructed to conceal the shadows; to imprison them and the filth that dwelt within. Though the matrix has remained sealed since, the feuding lords would not risk otherwise. And so efforts were made to conceal the matrix and prevent the empty rising. Keys scattered. Locks disguised. The shadows would forever be His prison.
But more than the likes of the light dwell within the unblinking darkness.
Each guardian within the quest is to be treated as a miniquest in itself, not merely a task within a quest. Storylines and such may be miniquest specific. Such as Malak, the creature you fight my not actually be the Guardian; combat isn't even necessary, as with Raunton.

Aggravation: afflicted attracts recurve damage.
Rambling;
- Spoiler:
- The miniquests as a whole make up six chapters; the conclusion to Desert Treasure, the four beacons, and an ultimatum.
In each of the four beacon chapters there will be a particularly difficult boss and a legendary item (and, possibly, a curse spell - but they may just all be unlocked at the end).
Thorg's Axe, melee weapon.
Robert's Strongbow, ranged weapon.
Dragonhead Gauntlets, multi-class weapon (lol, the guantless aren't armour).
So, do we have armour? Or a magic weapon? Magic does kinda have the whole spellbook... the only other thing left really is prayer, defence and summoning.
I mean, we could have several new familiars based on the enemies... sandworms ftw? So they're covered. We could make the beacons recharge prayer with a 50% boost (since they were originally an entrance to the gods' guild, we might as well still make them godly). All that's really left now is defence. But which class? Maybe Magic, since Melee and Ranged have god-armour for the old gods; "Ancient Robes", to match the Ancient Staff. That way, it's magic and defence! And I think the difficulty of this quest matches the difficulty to obtain Bandos' and Armadyl's... kinda.
The Dragonhead Guantlets is two-handed weapon. Their design is of two Dragonheads... only of dragons more similar to Draco from Dragonheart (the film; the shape is less slender/snake-like... and more bulky). These would be like huge caricature fists! The melee attack is obvious; the ranged attack has it spit ash; and the magic attack fires small bursts of dragonfire (basically a more yellow fire blast/wave).Requires level 70-90 in all classes, and is like the Salamander (only better).
Fog Robes (Magic and Defense, Fog Guardian)
Dragonhead Gauntlets (universal weapon, Ash Guardian)
Thorg's Axe (melee weapon, Lightning Guardian)
Robert's Strongbow (ranged weapon, Gust Guardian)
Spells... all of them (magic weapon, All Guardians)
Familiars, a few new ones. (summoning, Specific Guardians)
Prayer boost at beacons (prayer, Quest Completion)
Some of the planning on Adyna the Harlequin
- Spoiler:
- She could create a duplicate version of Brimhaven dungeon, only, magical. And instead of chase the ticket, chase Adyna.
Then a chamber of mirrors, only the reflections in the mirrors are somewhat alive. In that, if you try to walk through, ouch! Even if the reflection is of you! The reflections should also beckon you, like; "Here, come this way!"
The final fight would be direct, only, as well as any other attacks, she'll make use of the Illusory curse. She will only use it periodically, but it has a somewhat altered effect to that which players will be able to use. When Adyna uses Illusory, she stops attacking. All her duplicates will swarm you, like in usual multi-combat, including Adyna, all appearing to be attacking you... but you'll receive no damage. If coding must, you'll have loads of 0 splashes, else, it'd be invisible nothing (this is so it's still treated as combat). When you select one of the replicas, or the real, as a target, it will retaliate and do real damage. If you choose the real Adyna, all replicas disappear, if not, only that copy does. The spell wears off itself after about 30 seconds.
With the player version of the spell, the replicas are incapable of damage entirely. If you attack a clone, it vanishes, wasting the attack (since RuneScape uses a turn-based combat system). The user of the illusory spell can either peg it, or stay and fight. Now normally, the highest hitting target attracts the auto-retaliate feature; so you'd pick out the caster if he stayed. However, Illusory's fake attacks trick the system into thinking they are all hitting random high-damage (though
you'll lose no health). So your player would randomly shift around attacking random ones, never the caster.
Ancient Spellbook
- Spoiler:
You may only have two of the four chapters open at any one time. When
you pray at ones respective altar, you will be given the choice as to
which you wish to replace. The teleports and curses are open exempt to
any chapter, though the curses are PVP only (excluding Castle Wars and
Duel Arena).

Segment one contains the battle spells.
Segment two contains the teleportation spells.
Segment three contains the curse spells. PVP only (not PVP-world only, there's a difference).
You can reposition a segment by dragging it's divider bar (up or down).
X1 orders the spells by element.
X2 orders the spells by level.
All five chapters are graded between 1 and 5; and when the player chooses their chapters, the spells will be alternated, such as; Smoke, Ash, Shadow, Sand, Blood, Stone, Ice, Bone, etc. Aside from spells in the lowest and highest grade, all spells would have two possible levels (depending on which chapter they are paired with).

We have no disease diamond.
Venom's effect inflicts disease, though.

We still need to think of the Soul Diamond. Maybe we head to the Spirit World as seen in the Summer Duology?

AMG! Duology! Is that a word? It makes sense even having never heard it, and I've longed for such a word in previous circumstances! I honestly don't know why I've never heard it before... but there's me using words like "series" and "saga" to describe two films.
Yeah, that could work.
We need to work duality into it. If the guardian is within the Spirit Realm, there needs to be some reverse of them in the physical realm. Ooh, this one could be interesting. We could have two guardians! Perhaps only requiring you to fight one, or partially fight both? The Angel, whom aids spirits pass on; and the Hitman, whom consumes the entrap of souls of the living.
Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
Blaze used "duology" once, I looked it up, and its a new word! Rejoice!
Maybe a Revenant Guardian! The guardian is a spirit in the human world, but human in th spirit world. Maybe we have to ally ourself with it in the spirit world, and fight it in the real world.
On a sidenote, does Adyna drop the 5th diamonds?

I am still thinking, perphas it will involve the revenants that the soul diamond keeps them bind to this world, like it?

Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
Not really, as that would mean the revenants cease to exist once the diamond has been prized.
Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
No, I already thought of that, after the quest, only the spirit of those who want to leave will leave, and like that obviously the most bloodthirsty will remain

I can't see it.
Also, I think the revenants are war-tortured souls... I don't think they'd choose to remain in torment if the curse was suddenly lifted.

Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
Well early in the god wars, there was a greedy phoenix, who thought that with the jewel he could be the most powerfull phoenix, controlling his brethren (as you know the phoenix rise from their ashes), as he thought he could controll them , sensing the powerfull magic in the jewel, he stole it from a lich who was in charge of the diamond, when the lich noticed this he cursed the phoenix on to be as rotten as his own soul, readyu to claim revenge the lich followed the phoenix, scared as he was the bird swallowed the diamond, as soon as he was killed, he revived, he then thought pretentiously "his magic didn't have effect, I am inmortal" as he finished saying this, a part of his chest fallen, revealing his heart wich was rotten, and he is now cursed to die and be forever revived always rotting a bit more, well that's

Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
I like the idea of phoenixes being wise animals, but not to a degree that they can actively scheme. Although, RuneScape exist phoenix is capable of complex speech... Pah, I'm still not a fan of greedy phoenix. It dirties my image of them being graceful.
I didn't fully understand the last segment. The lich cursed the phoenix... but then? It all got messy. You need to use FULL STOPS!
I'll grant that a phoenix does seem a good choice for a Soul Diamond, given they are reborn/renewed.

Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
Exactly, and think of that phoenix as the exception to the rule, and this is what happened more clearly:
THe lich enraged, mounted a dragon, and started to follow the phoenix, cursing him to be rotten as his hearth, his dragon started breathing fire, out of fear the phoenix swallowed the diamond, shortly after that, he died.
After a few hours the ashes started to raise, but as the phoenix was reforming the diamond entered the phoenix, after the phoenix revived he thought that the mage was just bloofing about the curse, but suddenly he saw something wierd, a piece of flesh was in front of him, slowly he looked at his chest, where the flesh was supposed to cover the heart, there was nothing, he could only see his own heart, but something started to happen it began to rott, the curse was started to take effect, and to this day he is still cursed to this day, each time he revives he rottens some more, cursed in eternal pain, without his death he only roths more following an eternal cicle

It's nothing personal. It's called 3am; I'm tired and can't be bothered to read anything longer than a line; I'm in the middle of doing other work and so I'm primarily in Word, Flash or Photoshop rather than on the web-browser; I've got roommates who keep coming in and it's hard to concentrate on writing huge chunks of text; I'm not in my room because I'm in the kitchen or a roomie's room; I can't think of anything to say in response right now; etc. There's lots of reasons.
Wow, if you actually meant "criticise" and not "critique", then I'm flattered.Duskcurse wrote:Ok ok I just want 3mpty to critisice my history, btw check my poll

I'm not really a fan. The best, non-opinion related reason I can give is that the lich was entrusted by Zamorak to safeguard the diamond - he would not have allowed the phoenix to keep it, unless it was his intention for the phoenix to guard it instead.
Also: lich? Why? The only lich we have at present in RuneScape are the mahjarrat. Zombies, skeletons, mummies, ghouls, etc, are merely mindless-- well, zombies. Where did this sole lich come from?
Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
Well I was thinking that the lich could have been a powerfull mage, and the power of the soul diamond revived, and yes he tried to retrieve the diamond, but the fenix swallowed it out of fear, and yes the soul diamond was entrusted to the lich by zamorak, and srry for using dragonsa it's that there aren't many flying creatures in rs

Yeah, it0s that the diamond fused with the phoenix, and as some sort of cruel joke he wanted to make the phoenix suffer, and what better guardian than an undiying creature

Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
Well, "A Pyre Need" should be a start, there's a pheonix there. Your basic story is good, a pheonix is cursed for being greedy.
I say that the original guardian was in battle near the current pheonix's lair. The pheonix, entranced by the bauble, stole it. Zamorak, learning of the pheonix's ability to continuously be reborn, imbued the bird with it's power, making it immortal. When the pheonix was to die, it found that it's body was only rotting: his flames, his soul, keeping him together and in this world.
This story is rather similar to Neurosha's. *shrugs*

Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion
I still dislike that a phoenix could be greedy.
Also, there were no guardians before Zamorak, and it's unlikely Zamorak would ever return to a guardian - thus, he would not notice it go from the original guardian to the phoenix.
Also, purely in response to Handeath, is a phoenix not already immortal? How could Zamorak make it more immortal? Or do you mean immortal without the rebirth?
