Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion - Page 28 Empty Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion

Post by The Empty Lord Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:00 am

First topic message reminder :

Homecoming Apocalypse
Many lives were spent during the war erasing Him from memory; desecrating His name and burning the remnants.

Stories from the time before Guthix speak of an Age of Darkness and that a matrix that was constructed to conceal the shadows; to imprison them and the filth that dwelt within. Though the matrix has remained sealed since, the feuding lords would not risk otherwise. And so efforts were made to conceal the matrix and prevent the empty rising. Keys scattered. Locks disguised. The shadows would forever be His prison.

But more than the likes of the light dwell within the unblinking darkness.

Each guardian within the quest is to be treated as a miniquest in itself, not merely a task within a quest. Storylines and such may be miniquest specific. Such as Malak, the creature you fight my not actually be the Guardian; combat isn't even necessary, as with Raunton.

The lore regarding the Shadow Realm, at least with the current interaction of Homecoming Apocalypse, is that it was a realm that coexisted with ours but was banished to exist parallel by powerful magic. The beacons are holding the Shadow Realm away, and to free Zaros we are unlocking them.

Instead of Zaros, we'll be freeing some other entity. And rather than "helping", we're being played.

I think the Freneskae Creator God is too alien to be related.

Alright, well there really isn't another universe other than Zarnaris and the Abyss, both of which are in no way shape or form related to our Homecoming Apocalypse.

I was joking about the FCG Tongue He has nothing to do with ROTM though.

I do think exploring the Shadow Realm further would be especially cool though, and perhaps begin to explain how each of these guardians were created.

...maybe created or assigned to protect. Adnya's origins, however, Imo should be kept a mystery.

The Shadow Realm was really a Zarosian thing.

It was introduced with Zaros, but the stories go that he was banished there: meaning it existed before. I think using the Shadow Realm is fine. Problem is the current guardians were chosen by Zamorak, I believe, and so either all were or we need a subplot. Maybe Zamorak killed the original 4 guardians to obtain the keys so he could access te beacon, and the four we meet were of his choice.

We should start compiling plot elements on the wiki. Smile

You may, but - this goes without say - be careful. Guardians were chosen in the days of the God Wars and by Zamorak. I'm still interested to see what you two will do.

Similar to Adyna, it is permitted to have the keys passed on from who was likely their original guardian. For whatever reasons. Adyna kills Zuriel at the start of the quest, and she possess 2 other diamonds that are not hers.

3mpty and I talked about her at length some time ago...I think the motive was that she was cursed by Enraka, a rival lover of Zamorak, through the Mind Diamond, warping her desire for him into a frenzy to be THE guardian and protect all the Diamonds for him.
