New Barbarian Skills!
First topic message reminder :
This thread contains two updates to Barbarian Training, both of which have to do with the ranged skill and bows in particular.
The first one is Barbarian Hunting. This has to do with using blinds, decoys, and bows to kill new hunter creatures.
The second add-on is another section of Barbarian Fishing: fishing with bows. Along with this are many new fishing updates including some new fish to catch.
PART 1 – HUNTING WITH BOWS
Quote from Dark War 123: ‘If the hunter skill is just traps, it should be the trapping skill.’
The above quote excludes falconry, but those poor kebbits are trapped inside the fence…
THIS IDEA BELOW IS NOTHING LIKE CHOMPY BIRD HUNTING, SLAYER, OR NORMAL KILLING.
This is NOT just killing with bows. Chompy bird hunting (if you can even call it hunting) has nothing to do with the hunter skill! It’s just pure combat - MUCH different from my idea.
Talk to Otto to start this part of Barbarian Training. He goes over all the things you need to do in order to finish his task. A list of things you’ll need:
A bow and some arrows
2 logs
1 Common Kebbit fur
Knife
Go to the Desert Hunter Area. There, you’ll see a creature with a spine on it’s back. Near it is a construction hotspot that says ‘Blind.’’
Using 1 log, build the blind. When it’s done, click on it again and choose the option ‘Build Decoy’ and select Riphil. This uses your last log and the Kebbit fur.
Click on the blind and chose the option ‘use.’ Your player climbs into the blind. Equip the bow and arrows. Click on the Riphil and select ‘hunt.’
You fire an arrow and the Riphil falls over, dead. Walk up to its corpse and click on it to collect the loot.
Go back to Otto and give him the loot as proof you killed it. You’ve finished his task!

Blinds make it harder for an animal to see you from, gives you a good place to shoot from, and protects you from animal attacks. You can hunt without them, though. Blinds only stand for 5 minutes, but when you shoot and kill an animal, the timer resets. Damage it takes cannot be repaired. You can only have 1 blind at a time. You can smoke blinds.
The hunter level is needed to make it correctly, construction to build it right, and ranged to hunt from it correctly.

NOTES
You only get ranged experience when the animal is dead.
If you take 3 shots and the animal isn’t killed, it gets away. They don’t have a certain amount of HP.
Kills are luck, but some factors that can increase your chances are hunter level, ranged level, blinds, decoys, smoking, baiting, and camos.
When you kill an animal, if it takes 2 or more arrows to kill it, you get tatty furs. If it takes 1 shot you get normal. The animals have 100% chance of dropping bones, fur/skin, and meat (unless they don’t drop furs). Each animal attacks with a speed of 9 faster than the fastest weapon (besides cannon).
Hunter’s Crossbow has increased chances of a kill.
When you are bow hunting, the animal might run or attack you.
PART 2 – FISHING WITH BOWS
To start the newest part of Barbarian Fishing, talk to Otto. He tells you to go to any harpoon/cage fishing spot with a bow and attempt to kill something.
Go to the harpoon/cage spot of your choice with a bow and arrows. Your player pulls back the bow and fires an arrow into the water. You miss and your arrow is gone. Your player stops fishing and exclaims “I’m going to waste a ton of arrows if I keep trying this!”
Go back to Otto. When you tell him about your experience, he laughs at you. He tells you to grab any harpoon and use a knife on it. When you do this, you cut it down to a slender arrow-like shape with a wider part at the end. Tie a rope to the wider end and you’re done!
Go to another spot like before. You fire this harpoon into the water and pull it out – with a fish on the end! Go back to Otto to finish it up!
The second fishing level (barbarian) is for fishing with your hands and with a bow.
