Skills...
Imagine we had complete control over the skills within RuneScape, both existing and forthcoming; what would be our dream list?
Resource Gathering skills;
• Farming; cultivating plants for harvesting [of produce].
• Felling; cutting wood, and other resources, from trees.
• Fishing; procuring fish, and similar creatures, from bodies of water, lava or from the air.
• Mining; reprising minerals from the earth (and foreign substances).
• Rearing; animal husbandry (meat, pelts and other produce).
• Runecraft; collecting magical energies from altars constructed at magically-unstable locations.
• Skinning; carving flesh, and other prizes, from a dead carcass.
Processing/Production skills;
• Alchemy; the practice of converting one thing into another, using magical energies and other natural chemicals.
• Conjuring; the practice of spinning magical energies into a sustained form, such as weapons and armour.
• Cooking; the practice of preparing edible (and occasionally inedible) dishes.
• Fletching
• Herblore
• Smithing; the practice of metal-forging, such as weapons and armour.
• Stonecutting; the practice of gemstone-enchantment using light and magical energies, and augmentation. (inspired by Fable)
• Stonework;
• Tailoring
• Tinkering
• Woodwork; the practice of carving wood, to create items such as weapons, carts and canoes.
Combat skills;
• Attack
• Strength
• Sorcery
• Mana
• Ranged
• Marksmanship
• Defence
• Hitpoints
• Agility
Character Development skills;
• Bending; kinetic manipulation of the elements.
• Demonology
• Firecraft
• Hunter
• Mysticism
• Necromancy
• Prayer
• Slayer
• Thieving
• Summoning
• Zoanthropy
Recreational skills;
• Archaeology
• Construction
• Seafaring
Lost skills;
• Crafting, all over the place.
• Magic, all over the place.
I'm trying to recall them all. I think I've probably missed half of the existing skills.

Re: Skills...
I think we need a bit more information. I was going to compile our list, but I wanted a small blurb.

Re: Skills...
Haha!
Crafting is slowly becoming non-existent... from the look of the skills. Tailoring would cover weaving, spinning, stitching, etc. Woodwork would cover staffs. Stonecutting would cover jewellery.
Maybe it's a good thing... Crafting is too diverse.

wait... my comp must have f'ed up when I was editing it:
Won't tailoring and Stone masonry and possibly Tinkering be additions to the Crafting Skill? Since Stone Masonry and Tailoring are crafts all in themselves. (crafting is RS's art skill- crafting is art that has a practical use XD)

Re: Skills...
you do have a point, but I'd like crafting to stay the same. There isn't that much variety currently. Right now, tailoring will we like unused becuase so many people will think it is a little too feminine (remember most of the players on that game are guys who will never EVER want to be seen working on the 'woman's skill'

Re: Skills...
... well you can't not have it based on that reason. Not all players are female, and most male players are affected by testoesterone which means they have the natural desire to compete... they aren't going to put the thought of a skill being feminine in front of beating other people with a higher level.
Re: Skills...
hm, you do have a point there....
but there are SOME people... rofl
I can just only imagine a thread in the Rants thread saying, "REAL Men against Tailoring!" XD

Re: Skills...
Yes- They both work with fabric and the ones who don't know the difference will the ones posting those kinds of threads I mentioned before.
Now, Seamtress and Tailor aren't used anymore- they are called fashion designers, but that's AFTER gender roles!

Re: Skills...
But RuneScape isn't now... when the skill master is an old dude wearing a tailorcoat, it's not a feminine skill where you're making dresses. There's also the fact that the majority of fashion designers TODAY are male; designing for females and other males.
