Re: Mythics: General Discussion
In the edit I added "(or them to yours)", but I don't understand how what I've described as piggybacking differs from your description...
>Also, I dislike the idea that it's just some random ether beings who happen to collect heroes.
I ran the collectors concept by the group prior to writing, so I went with it. *shrugs* Each to his own.
>Okay, let's try this time thing again. Guild time is a twelve hour loop. Normal time is a straight line (or a loop so big we can't comprehend it). When you enter the guild, you STOP moving in normal time, and begin circling the guild loop. You are connected by something similar to an astral thread to your time. When you leave the guild, you are reeled back to your time and continue on in that time.
That's essentially the original concept anyway, almost to a tee, I was only ever confused about what the "discs" were and how the dial on the entrance would contribute to the quest.
If it's someone who needs your help, but exist in the past, are they an omen or an echo? As they represent something you're yet to do, even if it's already happened.

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
the discs just represent that you are still tied to your own time. the dial just allows you to enter at any point in the guild loop you want.
Oh and about running it by the group? We develop stuff, we work on it, but apparently every time I dislike one of your ideas you can just veto me because "oh but we already decided it. WAAAAAH!" f*ck you.

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
So the Wraiths could be like...manifestations of the collective consciousness? Caretakers of the universe sort of deal?
---------
Okay, so stuff that needs to get done ASAP:
Shadow Cloak section
Blades of Elyeon section
Potion sections (mine can be rewritten if need be)
Things that need to get done after that:
Figure out how to counteract Durial

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
I personally dislike the idea that the wraiths are manifestations of a greater consciousness. Purely because I like the idea of them being collectors.
Do we piggyback for the original three items?

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
I said the wraiths are the engravings of the heroes into the collective consciousness, as opposed to the OMEN/ECHO which are the actual instances of heros entering the guild.
It's not just that I feel like you veto my stuff, It's that I feel like you assume that as admin of this forum, and nominal leader of this group (when it's actually more of a mutual collaboration) you think that you even have that power. You take ideas and then act as though it's all up to you to cut them out based on your preferences.

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
So they're like the heroes except just the general impression? Like all the heroic/legendary/whatever energy of all the heroes just in some sort of manifestation?

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
Since the guild doesn't really follow time... Can't we just agree that it has always been there, thus avoiding how it was created...
On the topic of Wraiths, I really don't have anything to add...

I agree with Ruy. It is the simplest way to avoid this most complex topic.

The Guild just is, and we shouldn't bother our tiny little minds about it? Works for me.

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
For the purposes of writing a quest, "just is" is probably fine. It's not like it'd probably feature in dialogue. Anyway, what now?
Re: Mythics: General Discussion
Now we figure out who is going to write the sections of the stuff that we need to get for Durial! If no one has any problems with the different items we've established, I'd like to submit my two sections so far for the Bloodyield herb and boiling the potion in Hellfire?

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
Do we use time for the first three, that's probably an important question? With piggybacking we don't need access to the throne, or to pass Durial. In fact, Durial could join us and merely interject us when we try to go back through. And it doesn't mean our earliest incarnation has to pull through countless people... our future versions can do some of the leg work. Our earliest-self should only pull through the Chapter 2 selves, to avoid the questions why would they help Durial post-knowing.

Why hasn't anyone written anything?

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
When are we going to utilise piggybacking? Then I shall write something, maybe, possibly, in a procrastinatey fashion.
Oooh...
Oooh...
Re: Mythics: General Discussion
I honestly don't understand this concept of piggybacking! >.< Is it like taking one dude who wants to be in there, but can't because they don't have the required stuff but you do, and you take them along with yourself? This concept is so confusing!
Also, I like the image about the gate! Great concept!

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
I didn't draw that one, alas.
Also, piggybacking is essentially displayed in that image (notice he seems to be leading someone through it). You pull echoes/omens through the archway and they appear in your time. At least, that's what I've always gathered. The only issue I have with it is that once you're both on the outside of the gate, surely you'd see that it's you?
Unless we go for a more comical approach. You don't pull them out, you push them through. So that guy you can just about see is actually pushing him through! Thus, you don't leave together and you never see each other.

Yeah, I Think might cause some unnecessary paradoxes. Like the idea though.

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
So piggybacking works. We should use it in...the bit where we gather items to beat Durial?

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
I don't know where else it would fit in, to be honest! If it's a time-travel method to simply end up in other Mythics' times, it wouldn't really be useful for getting to Durial or helping get his items, would it?

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
I don't know, the blade he asks for is that of a god in his time... we could go to the past to obtain it? The potion could be obtained from a future where they've overthrown the gods, and thus such a potion exists. I don't know. I've got a sudden sense of deja vu... have I said this before? XD
I just got an awesome image of us being one of those involved in Zaros' downfall, even if indirectly/unintentionally. We could go to the past to obtain a cloak used by a master thief, one of the last known owners of an intangibility cloak. We get caught up in something. Shrugs, I'm not really liking this if I'm honest.
It would be cool to fit at least one of the sections into an existing piece of folklore.
You're probably right though, we shouldn't bother. I might try the cloak section.

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
Yes, the cloak section! Yes, writing! I think our best bet is to just start writing things. If we all like it, we'll keep that idea. If we don't like what's been written, then we scrap it and start over. All this going back and forth about what might be is delaying this quest.

Re: Mythics: General Discussion
Scratch the cloak section for a while.
I'm going to try and write a section of Mythics' tonight. I could, even, write the entirely of the quest excluding task segments. The in-between parts and possibly even the final fight sequence including the section with the Chronarch's throne.
