For those who care:

There was a debate over the necessity of student government in one assembly
Then only two candidates ran for office, there are four offices in the student council...and both of them are running unopposed for their office.
Then someone started the idea of replacing it with a new government
Then we had our figurehead speak before the candidates did...
then we had a meeting
then we put up signs claling for a vote of no confidence, which were taken down because they had no names...then we got a poster up with 100 signatures on it.

We have student council elections tomorrow...

3) I just was accepted into a summer internship that will pay $1000 for 4 wks work.

Russian History and Literature....lucky.

Course description: When studying the history and literature of a people, amazing things can happen, and when the history is as rich and the literature as provocative as Russian history and literature are, fireworks are going off all the time. The course, then, combines the examination of Russian history from Ivan the Terrible to Nicholas II with the explorations of 19th and early 20th century Russian literature, from Gogol and Tolstoy to Dostoevsky and Chekhov. Though the course can be taken through either the history or english departments, all students will be expected to work in the space where history and literature connect and enlighten each other.

I wish I could take that course.

Well done!

So...I just watched the first episode of Torchwood:Miracle Day, and I feel like at least so far I don't quite believe it, I mean honestly, they wouldn't have one prisoner sitting there nicely telling them they'll sue him...instead they'd have hundreds of unkillable prisoners dashing themselves against the guards and winning.

I just hate you so much right now. Damn it, I just hate everyone right now.

I'm stuck in this stupid loop where I watch people I hate and despise achieving greatness and I genuinely hate being unable to better myself because no one is prepared to give me the chance to do so.

I could do a far better job at the top of the chain than those already sitting there. They know it clearly, and they hold me back because they fear me more than ever.

Also, achieving greatness requires you to recognize that perhaps those around you are not mailicious, and perhaps it is your own resentment of them that colors your relationships with them and makes them unwilling to raise you up

Can I have those grades converted to ECTS? I don't know whether A is equal to our max grade, or if it is A+, and in that case, how large the gap is between the two.

(Not because I want to compare or anything.)

Also, not to be pocket-philosophical (?), but greatness should only be measured against (?) oneself.

Also also, I checked, your grades are vastly better than mine, with mostly straight A's (ECTS).

I'm starting MIT's open courseware online course 'Intro to Computer Science' because my knowledge of coding is woefully lacking for a hopeful math major

Just finished my four week physics internship, got a $1000 check on the table next to me. (Also... >_> I'm going canoeing with the guy who runs the program and his daughter tomorrow)
