First topic message reminder :

Homecoming Apocalypse
Many lives were spent during the war erasing Him from memory; desecrating His name and burning the remnants.

Stories from the time before Guthix speak of an Age of Darkness and that a matrix that was constructed to conceal the shadows; to imprison them and the filth that dwelt within. Though the matrix has remained sealed since, the feuding lords would not risk otherwise. And so efforts were made to conceal the matrix and prevent the empty rising. Keys scattered. Locks disguised. The shadows would forever be His prison.

But more than the likes of the light dwell within the unblinking darkness.

Each guardian within the quest is to be treated as a miniquest in itself, not merely a task within a quest. Storylines and such may be miniquest specific. Such as Malak, the creature you fight my not actually be the Guardian; combat isn't even necessary, as with Raunton.

Everyone's a guy on the Internet. Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion - Page 26 642246

Because this quest is really getting stuff, then killing Adyna, I think we can make the quest a walkthrough and space the lore throughout the quest. We can put the backstory first (on the beacons, and a bit on the shadow realm), give the walkthrough, and then give the history of the guardians. Then the rewards. Grin

So I've been having a little discussion about this over the clan chat, and I've decided to go for a guardian. Weaver the Spyder, Guardian of Venom. I'll be trying to make a devilishly tactical boss fight for her (I know you called Weaver a "he", Handeath, but spiders are sexually dimorphic and generally males tend to be inferior, so I think she'd be better female).

I may move her out of the wilderness too, since quests are meant to avoid it now. Let me know if that's a problem

The locations of the beacons really has very little connection to the God Wars. Weaver should fit in her setting, regardless of where. Perhaps an existing spider dungeon?

I assume you mean fourth given she is in the fifth, but Adyna is in all. Zuriel is killed by Adyna at the start of the quest, and she becomes the Miasmic Guardian.

wait. hold on. Zurial currently in the game is already dead and his stuff is dropped already. So for this quest, are you expecting players to take his staff and remove the diamond? Shock

No, Adyna kills him and takes the diamond. Prior to this we didn't know we could, and after it's already gone. As far as games go, that's a pretty sound resolution. Smile We have to kill Adyna for it. Tongue

With regards to both of them, or two separate questions? Adyna is trying to collect all the diamonds, similar to us, whilst Atlas wants us to succeed in our quest. We don't know Atlas' motives, but it's made clear that Adyna is being possessed by her own diamond (or rather, it's deranged her).

You need to make a few edits regarding Sand (who wrote the guardian, and the shift effect)

Sorry to complicae this discussion further, but in Desert Treasure, you free the Mahjrrat(sp?) Azzandra from it. What would finding the fifth and final diamond do for him? Will he knowledgeble, will it increase his powers?

This question goes further to the other beacons too; are there more mahjarrat(sp?) that we don't know yet, who are waiting to be freed?

Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion - Page 26 Empty Re: Homecoming Apocalypse Discussion

Post by The Empty Lord Fri Jul 22, 2011 9:25 pm

I haven't really put much thought into Atlas if I'm honest, merely a placeholder for now moot plot devices surrounding the mahjarrat and Zaros. Atlas is based on the Greek titan of the same name, but only loosely. Atlas is the divide bearer. Rather than carrying the heavens, this Atlas carries the shadow realm. He wants to rid his burden, and such wants us to allow the shadows to be one with this realm rather than apart. *shrugs* That was on the spot. He wants the shadow realm opened. Tongue

The fifth diamond might further empower him, or have no effect on him at all. But aside from Azzanadra, who was imprisoned within the beacon, there is no connection between the mahjarrat and the beacons. It possible that we could free other powerful beings that were imprisoned, but I had no plans to.

So he prods us on our quest, then he is released to do...what? Also, is HA is Master Quest, or Grandmaster? The combat and skill requirements could push this quest to Grand level.

We should also organize the beacons (spells and location) and how we re-enchant the mirrors for each beacon.

Hmm. I'd like to know a lot more about this Atlas guy too... The kind of mystique surrounding him would be great for people playing the quest, but not so great for the people writing it...

As for Master or Grandmaster, if the quest is made up of several sub-quests, won't it be joining Recipe for Disaster in the "Special" category? If not, go for Grandmaster. The plot is far too epic to be a master quest...

Batman said that about Joker./

Also, the plot of this quest is moreof a teaser, the difficulty comes from the length and the combat.

Sorry, I meant to say "From Batman". Tongue

Also, yeah, it's grandmaster length but that's about it. Although, Nomad was considered a Grandmaster worthy quest component. Perhaps if we have at least 1 or 2 epic bosses, it could be grandmaster difficulty as well. Wink
