Re: Derohk, Guardian of the Ash Diamond
The beast erupts from the ground, and stands proud upon the ancient pedestal. With an almighty roar, the central head shakes it mane before the whole body jumps forward and begins to circle Callum. One of the heads turns to bite at a loose bit of flesh hanging from it's side - apparently aggravating it - whilst the others snarl menacingly.
We have ghouls, ghosts, zombies and skeletons. Derohk, among with others, are... well, I would call them afflicted, but I think we have them. Basically, Derohk is immortal to a natural death, but his body is still subject to age and, by extension, decay. Like a zombie, only living and not dead. Everliving? I don't know. A zombie, in good lore, is an animated corpse - as a corpse, it will still decompose. Similar to a zombie, a lich is dead, but they are fully conscious (free thought) and do not usually decay/decompose.
Argh - all these supernatural creatures. Basically, our cerberous is an everliving (I'm going to use everliving, lol) - their whole race has been around for however long and they look decayed and almost zombie-like. Killing them is difficult when their body is already subject to a death-like state.

Isn't it spelled Cerberus?
Anyway, is it still made out of Ash?

Meh...3-headed doggy is too normal
Try three headed wolf with rams horns...throw in some wings...maybe forked tongues idk
and really you have to choose the three headed dog out of all the awesome greek myths....
I mean the chimera would be much cooler
or a repositioned scylla
or the gorgons

Re: Derohk, Guardian of the Ash Diamond
Three is a rather cliché number... but you can't really call it a Cerberus and not have one.

Re: Derohk, Guardian of the Ash Diamond
Let's see... guardian of the River Styx verses a lion with some odd shaped tumours. The only chimeras I've ever found remotely interesting are those in God of War and this sort. Whether it's a snake head or a snake tail, the random goat's head just ruins the chimera for me.
Going with the gargoyle one could be interesting, I suppose...
PS. Admittedly, the Cerberus isn't amazing... but to say it's terrible compared to the chimera is just silly. Griffins, alicorns, hydra, sphinx... so many more are better.

Re: Derohk, Guardian of the Ash Diamond
Response to your picture which didn't load at first;
See, the goat's head ruins it regardless of where it is. It's like... let's create an awesome creature than, in an angry rage, put a goat's head on it. I've seen ones with a dragon instead of a snake and they look pretty cool* - better when it's still only a lion head. There was one where it was a lion, but the spine and bit around the spine was scales and it lead into a huge tail - wings as well.
*note the only thing lion is either the hooves, the beard, or the horns... no extra head.
Thinking out loud;
I'm liking the lion upper body, huge horns and snake lower body.
Scylla is just a massive reptile... on a rock.

Dark, I lol'd. I don't think how long the horns are makes any difference, I will always just imagine them eating my coat.
Aside from the face, manticores look cool.
