¤Chapter I: Menace of Mycoloth¤
- Spoiler:
You can start this quest by talking to Sir Amik Varze after finishing the third quest. Then, this conversation takes place:
(h) [You]: Good day, Sir Amik
(a)Sir Amik: Good day? Pardon me(character’s name) but have you forgotten about the imminent threat that lies upon us?
(an) [You]: Of course not, I was just being polite.
(o) Sir Amik: Well, since you’ve helped us out earlier, I’ll forgive you this time.
(h) [You]: Thank you, Sir Amik.
(sr)Sir Amik: We don’t have time for thanks. I want you to find any clue that you can on Mycoloth coming back to RuneScape again. We must stop him from rampaging!
[You]: Very well, but where will I start my search?
Sir Amik: You’ve seen the ancient city, Ydr right?
[You]: Yes Sir, but I don’t see what that has to do with Mycoloth.
Sir Amik: Enough! From now on, we will refer to Mycoloth as M. I forbid you to say the name ever again.
[You]: But, Sir Amik, I don’t believe that we’ll get anything out of that empty hole.
Sir Amik: And I’m telling you to go look there. Explore the gates, descend to their dungeons, I don’t care, but just try to get some kind of information!
[You]: Very well Sir Amik.
Sir Amik: Start at the gates of Kyüri.
[You]: Will do sir.
Sir Amik: After you’ve looked through Kyüri, go and scout in Ydr.
Go to Kyüri. When you search the gates, you will not find anything. Afterwards, go search through the houses. You won’t find anything of use there.(you may find random things though, for example, you could find any kind of plank and limestone bricks or soft clay from the ruins) So, now you go and explore Ydr.
When you explore the gates, you discover a small casket. If you try to open it,(regardless of your thieving level) you will fail. You’ll have 3 options of opening the casket:
Forcing the lock open
Picklocking the lock
Examining the lock
These will have to be performed in a certain order if you want to open the casket. Here are a few possible combinations:
Picklock – Examine-Force
Force – Examine- Picklock
Examine- Force – Picklock
These are only 3 combinations, whilst a lot more could be made. Once you’ve got the right combination, you’ll get a message saying: The casket jumps open, and a small note falls out.
The note will be dropped. Pick it up.
If you read it, you’ll see that it is in the same language as the book you got from the first quest. In other words, you can’t read it. Bring it to Jorral. The following conversation will take place:
[You]: Hi there
Jorral: Why hello, how’ve you been?
[You]: Quite good actually.
Jorral: Good, good. Can I help you with anything?
[You]: Actually, you can. I found this weird casket, and when I opened it, I found some kind of note. I recognised the way it was written from the book you gave me a while ago, and I was wondering if you could help me with translating it.
Jorral: Ah yes, well, I’m sure I can. If you could please hand it to me?
You now give the note to Jorral.
Jorral: Aha. I see. I’m deeply sorry [character’s name], but I cannot immediately translate this. You will have to give me some time.
[You]: Oh. I understand. Do you think you could give me something to do whilst you translate it?
Jorral: Well, have you ever heard of the Sendir Tribe?
[You]: The Sendir Tribe?
Jorral: They’re an ancient tribe of, well, creatures would be the best way to describe them.
[You]: I suppose you want me to kill them?
Jorral: Oh, heavens no! The Sendir are harmless.
Remember, do not engage the tribe in battle!
[You]: Ok, I won’t. Now, I only need to know 1 more –
J: No you don’t. You have all the information you need.
[You]: But I don’t know where to find the-
J: You’re an adventurer, look around, ask questions, see what you can dig up.
[You]: Well, can you at least give me a hint as to where to go look?
J: Fine. I wonder what kind of an adventurer doesn’t like an adventure, but I have something you might be able to use. Here.
Jorral hands you a note.
J: If you read that, you should get a better idea of where to look.
So, examine the note, and you’ll read:
Or is Dan the mole?
This is an anagram with a few added letters for Orlando Smith. Go to him(located downstairs in the Varrock Museum, though you should know this by now)
Orlando. Choose: Talk about Quest) Hi there, how can I help you?
[You]: Hi. Jorral sent me to see if you know anything about the Bockerwough.
Orlando.: Yes I do, but I prefer to call them Ydrians. Easier to say you see.
[You]: Wait – Ydrians? You mean, they come from Ydr?
Orlando: Indeed I do. Beautiful town. Very kind people.
[You]: How come you know about them? I thought I was the first one to unlock the gateway to that ancient civilisation!
Orlando: You did WHAT?? You’ve opened the gates to the town without permission from the Ydrians? Do you have ANY idea what you’ve done!?
[You]: Yes, I saved their town from a Scorpicore.
Orlando: A Scorpicore? A Scorpicore you say!?
[You]: Yes. A weird Shaikahan-like creature, but –
Orlando: With the wings of a Dragon, and the tail of a Scorpion. Supposedly the ruler of the Manticores. Dates back to the 2nd age.
[You]: How do you know all this?
Orlando: I’m a natural historian. And I specialize in strange creatures. For example, the Scorpicore is able of using a powerful venom, which would make the victim feel like their insides are on fire.
[You]: How come it’s survived all these years? Doesn’t everything eventually die?
O.S.: No. Certain creatures are immortal, and can only be killed by a blade, whilst other continually regenerate, such as the phoenix. And there’re a few creatures that are truly immortal, who cannot be killed by blade or time. The Scorpicore is a regenerating creature, like the Medusa, whom is half-snake, -
[You]: And half woman, with snake hair. I know, I’ve killed her.
O.S.: You – You’ve killed the Medusa? And you’ve killed the Scorpicore?
[You]: Well, yea, but I don’t see the problem with that…
O.S.: The Scorpicore has to make sure that all souls safely pass on to the Other Side, whilst the Medusa guards the gateway to Mycoloth, one of the most feared creatures of all times, though forgotten in history. The Medusa and The Scorpicore will not regenerate for 7 years after they’ve been defeated, unless a special ritual is performed.
[You]: How does this ritual work?
O.S.: It’s too complicated to explain now. First ,we must return to Ydr. There we can perform the ritual, and re-establish Balance.
[You]: Oh, yea, that reminds me. How did you ever get into Ydr in the first place?
O.S. Cutscene) When I was younger, and more adventurous like you are now, I once stumbled upon a cave with a mighty beast in it. I managed to sneak across the room without attracting it’s attention, and I found myself in a room with 4 doors.
One of them had a sign of a Scimitar in a red circle in front of it, another one had a Bow in a green square in front of it, the third one had a Staff in a Blue triangle in front of it, and the last one had a Wolf’s head in a white circle in front of it. I had no idea what was beyond them, and until the day that is today, I still don’t.
[You]: I know that place! I’ve opened those doors!
O.S.: I thought you might have. I just hope they didn’t contain anything dangerous.
Anyway, as I was saying.
I looked around a bit, and I saw a woman appear out of the floor! She knocked me out, and the next thing I know, I’m in a prison. I spent a few days in there, living off of nothing more than few rats and a bowl of water that was always at my cell when I woke up. I managed to escape, and I found myself in a beautiful town filled with springs and trees. I ran into a little girl, and befriended with her. It was she that taught me their uses, rituals, and everything else. Thanks to her, I can blend into their society, and talk to the villagers.(Cutscene end) It must have been at least 3 years since my last visit. I should go there again soon.
[You]: (to yourself) Oh dear, how am I going to tell him Ydr lies in ruins?
[You]: (To Orlando) Wow, that’s amazing! (cautiously) So you haven’t been there for 3 years? Do you think that a lot has changed?
O.S.: Well, no, not really. And I don’t think I can go there, since the Succession War probably isn’t over yet. That’s why the Shrrug'erl is there you know. To stop anyone from trying to exit the town, and spread the War over all of RuneScape
[You]: (yourself) This is NOT looking good…
[You]: (to Orlando) Uhm… Actually, about that Shrrug'erl– You’re going to love this – I’ve sort of killed it…
O.S.: Don’t be ridiculous (username) Yengor won’t let himself be beat so easily. If he’s opposed to any threat, he can instantly teleport away the opponent. The only thing that can weaken him, would be something made in his time. And since his time was the 3rd age, and this is the 5th age, he will not be beaten.
[You]: Yes, well, about that… I’ve found some Ancient Staves in the middle of a labyrinth, and I kind of used them to kill Yengor…
O.S.: …
Are you serious [You]? This is not a matter to be taken lightly. If you have killed Yengor, then you will have unleashed total anarchy and chaos upon the world. There is no time for chatting anymore, we must immediately return to Ydr, and resurrect The Scorpicore and the Medusa. To much time has already been wasted.
From this point onward, Orlando Smith will accompany you to Ydr, help you with opening it, and you will play a full chapter as him.
¤~¤ Orlando’s Tale ¤~¤
- Spoiler:
Talk to Orlando Smith again, and tell him that you’re ready to go. He will take you to the cave in the Wilderness, where the skeleton of Yengor lies. You look at it, and can’t help but feel very guilty for killing it.
Orlando: Impossible... You did kill him. Do you have any idea what you have done?
[You]: I didn’t realise I was doing something wrong! I was told to kill him by a Fairy.
Orlando: And you expect me to believe that?
[[You]: Well, yes.
Orlando: Well, I don’t. Let’s hurry now. I expect the Guardians are beginning to gather power as we speak.
[Cutscene]
The cutscene begins in a shady place, with a big coffin in the middle. You see that it is withering, and a small beam of light, emanating from inside, making it’s way through.
The screen goes black, and when it returns to normal, you see 3 characters speaking with each other.
???(1): The Seal is weakening.
???(2): The coffin may be showing some gaps, but the Seal is still as strong as when it was first created!
???(1): Don’t talk such nonsense. You’ve been there, you’ve seen what has become of it.
???(2): I have seen what has happened to the coffin, but the coffin is not the Seal.
???(1): Fool! The coffin is what contains the Seal, and if the coffin breaks, the Seal will be released!
???(2): That’s impossible. It was made by The Third, you know that.
???(1): Even The Third had limits to her power.
???(2): Well, I’ll have you know that –
???(3): Silence! Bickering idiots! We did not come here to discuss the Seal. Let’s get to business.
[Cutscene end]
While you’re headed to the cave, you will speak to Orlando.
[You]: Orlando?
Orlando: Hmm? What is it?
[You]: Could you explain what you meant with those Guardians you mentioned earlier?
Orlando: The Guardians? Why do you wish to know?
[You]: Well, I don’t really know much about them.
Orlando: That’s probably true. Very well then, I’ll tell you all I know.
Orlando: It all started many, many years ago, near the middle of the Fourth Age.
Orlando: As you know, Mycoloth is an extremely powerful being. He is the last of his race, the Fresc. What you may not know, is that he wasn’t always the wicked creature he is now…
[Cutscene]
Orlando: To understand this, I must tell you a tale of a long, long time ago, before the great Guthix shaped the lands of Gielinor to his liking. As you may or may not know, the Elder Gods created Runescape, after which they disappeared, never to be heard of again. As they disappeared, they left behind several relics, the most notable to be the Stone of Jas, a creation of all the Elder Gods. Not only did they leave behind items, they left races behind as well, such as the Dragonkin; Guardians of the Stone of Jas.
After they disappeared, the God Guthix stumbled upon the Realm. After wandering for several years, he found himself in the vicinity of the Stone of Jas. As he touched it, his powers increased beyond contempt, and he made Gielinor into what it is today. He created Runestones with the Stone of Jas, and he brought humans to this realm. Elves already roamed Gielinor before this, and Guthix brought many other races here.
Among one of these races were the Fresc. The Fresc were a weak race. Looked down upon by every other race, they had no physical strength whatsoever. On the other hand, they had incredible mental capabilities, that are nearly able of rivalling a Gods’! They could not control anything, but they could create explosions from miles away, lift entire cities up into the sky, see the future, all by thinking about it. Even though that they had all these capabilities, they never used them. The Fresc were not a war-loving race, such as the Orks. They only used their powers when they had no other option left, except for their ability to see the future: That happened at a random time. They simply couldn’t help it, which is another reason as to why they are extinct now. A member of this race is well known to you by now: Mycoloth.
Mycoloth was a peaceful, yet suppressed being. As a Fresc, he couldn’t help but be suppressed by everything that desired knowledge of the future.
As the Second Age drew to a close, and the first days of the Third Age occurred, the Fresc were highly desired for their visions. During the beginning of the God Wars, Mycoloth’s tribe was attacked by a Zarosian army, led by the Mahjarrat Sliske. Sliske wiped out the entire village, but Mycoloth managed to escape. As he fled the scene of the battle, he was faced by another Mahjarrat: Jhallan. Jhallan was considered a weakling under the Mahjarrat, and to take revenge on his fellow Mahjarrat, who had defiled him for so long, he made Mycoloth stronger. He gave him powers that rival a Mahjarrat’s, and his mental capabilities exceeded those of a God.
And so his torment began. Now fueled by the anger of Jhallan, Mycoloth went on a rampage, killing off thousands of creatures. He was faced by several Mahjarrat, but they were no match for him. The path of destruction he had created was noticed by several other beings, and the Gods agreed to exile him from this realm. His psychical strength had increased to a manner that is nearly impossible to grasp, and his mental abilities could not be exceeded. There was one thing that he did not have though: Logic.
Mycoloth had turned into a rampaging beast, lusting only for terror, and killing off other beings. He was savage, and he could not think. His only concern was killing off everything he possibly could. A thousand years had passed since he had gained his powers, and he was still the mindless barbaric creature he was back then.
It did not take long before the Gods faced Mycoloth, and locked him away in the deepest bellows of hell, damned to oblivion. Fearing that he might escape again, the Gods assigned 3 Guardians to him. These Guardians have upheld their task for thousands of years, but the Seal that prevents Mycoloth from entering this realm again is weakening, and he has taken control of the Guardians. As they are now corrupted, they will oppose anyone who tries to rebuild the Seal, and as a result, Mycoloth is getting closer and closer to breaking out of his prison, and rampaging the world of Runescape once more.
[Cutscene End]
[You]: How come you know that his Seal is weakening?
Orlando: I have a mental connection with the Ydris. I know what they know, and they know what I know.
[You]: Than how come you haven’t done anything about this sooner?
Orlando: I needed you.
[You]: What could you possibly need me for?
Orlando: I’m not allowed to tell, sorry.
[You]: Well, how come you didn’t know that I’d killed Yengor?
Orlando: Simple: The Ydris must not have known about it. Now, let’s continue…
¤ Chapter III: Sangrite Wonders ¤
- Spoiler:
After the last cutscene ends, you are in an unknown place.[Song unlocked: Far Away]
Orlando: We’re here! Now hold on, I’ll be right back…
[You]: Alright then, I’ll wait here.
[Cutscene]
It’ll start with Orlando leaving the area you’re in at the moment, and heading further down. Eventually, he’ll enter a cave.
Orlando: My Lord.
???: Ah, yes. Aen. I trust that you have completed your task?
Orlando: Yes My Lord. He/She is waiting outside.
???: Well done. You will be rewarded accordingly. Now, bring me to him/her.
Orlando: Yes, My Lord.
Now, Orlando and the shady person emerge out of the cave, and back to where you were.
[Cutscene end]
[You]: Finally! I have no idea how long you’ve been away, but for crying out loud, my legs are nearly frozen!
???: That’s merely an effect of Aera on outsiders. You cannot enter unless you have been cleansed.
[You]: Who’re you?
???: That is none of your business. My identity will be revealed as soon as I see it fit. Until then, you will know me as Ivyon.
[You]: Alright then.
Orlando: [You], you cannot survive in Aera yet. You need a special treatment.
[You]: Oh really? And what might that be then?
Ivyon: Allow me.
In Aera, you must survive by drinking the Essence of Gielinor. It is the only way an outsider will not freeze to death.
[You]: Wait… So you’re telling me, that if I don’t drink the what-ever you said of Runescape, I’m going to become an icicle?
Ivyon: That is a crude way of putting it, but yes.
[You]: Alright then, where do I find this what’s-it’s-name?
Ivyon: The Essence of Gielinor consists out of fire which can be summoned at any desired moment, blessed by a God.
[You]: Wait, are you talking about Sangrite?
Ivyon: Yes and no. You would call it Sangrite, but it is not complete yet. To form the Essence of Gielinor, you would need to add the elements.
[You]: How would I do that then?
Ivyon: That is for you to discover.
[You]: How?
Ivyon: Take this. You can contact me at any time with it, and I will tell you where to go for the next Element.
Ivyon hands you a piece of rock.
Ivyon: Rub it when you need help. Oh, and I’m sure you’ll know how to get Sangrite again, since you have already dealt with it in the past.
[You]: Well, ok. What’s the first Element, and where do I find it?
Ivyon: The first Element you’ll need is the Element of Terra. The piece of Terra you need can be found in a dungeon, amidst of a barren wasteland. In the dungeon houses a Dragon who holds the Essence of Terra.
[You]: Alright then, I’ll go get it.
Ivyon: Good luck.
First, head for Fiara in the Fist of Guthix. Talk to her, and she’ll give you another vial of Sangrite. Next, head to the Cave that Ivyon mentioned.
The Cave in question is the King Black Dragon Lair. Logically, the dragon in the King Black Dragon Lair is the King Black Dragon. Kill it, and it’ll drop a peculiar rock.
NOTE: You have to kill it on your own, teams will NOT work.
Now that you have the Essence of Terra, you’ll need to contact Ivyon again. Rub the Strange Rock.
Ivyon: Yes?
[You]: I’ve found the Essence of Terra!
Ivyon: Good job adventurer. Your next Element is the Element of Aqua. The Essence of Aqua is found within a second dungeon, which is inhabited by creatures that can only be killed in a specific manner. The strongest of these creatures holds the Essence of Aqua.
[You]: Ok, thanks.
This is referring to the Aquanites in the Rellekka Slayer Cave. Go there and kill them until you get an Orb of Water. Contact Ivyon again.
Ivyon: Who is this?
[You]: It’s me! I’ve found the Essence of Aqua!
Ivyon: Well done[You], well done indeed. The Essence of Incindia is already in your grasp. Your final Element is the Element of Aer. You will find this Element near some weaker frozen creatures. The Essence of Aer is carried by a powerful foe, whom can only be harmed by something warm. You’ll need to lure it towards you.
You]: Alright then, how do I get it out into the open?
Ivyon: It already is, hidden beneath the snow. Just make sure it gets to you.
[You]: Oh, ok.
Ivyon: Good luck.
[You]: Wait! I have one more question!
Ivyon: Yes?
[You]: You said I already have the Essence of Incindia with me, right? What is it?
Ivyon: The Essence of Incindia is the Fire inside your vial of Sangrite.
[You]: Oh, ok. Thanks.
Ivyon: No problem. Good luck.

Finally, head back to Orlando. Talk to him, and he’ll take you back to the Cave. When you are there, talk to Ivyon again.
[You]: I did it! I found all the Elements!
Ivyon: Well done, my son. Hand them over to me, along with your vial of Sangrite. I will make you the Essence of Gielinor..
You hand Ivyon your Sangrite, and the 3 Elements you have gathered.
Suddenly, Ivyon starts glowing a deep, green shine, and he will give the potion back to you.
[You]: So this is the Essence of Gielinor… What happens if I drink it?
Ivyon: You will become clear of mind, and most of Gielinor’s secrets will be revealed to you. Mind though, you will only gain knowledge of Gielinor. Aera, and other dimensions or realms will not be affected. The only difference, is that my enchantment allows you to enter Aera whenever you want. Also, the vial will automatically refill, in case you would need it for a later occasion.
[You]: So, I’ll know a lot of secrets, and I’ll be able to enter Aera, with the vial refilling itself for future use?
Ivyon: Yes.
[You]: Alright then, bottoms up!
Ivyon: Excuse me?
[You]: It’s an expression. We use it to – you notice that Ivyon is not understanding a word of what you’re saying- Sigh… Nevermind.
Ivyon: If you say so.
[You]: Well, here goes.
You drink the liquid. It’s vast, and tastes rather earthly. You feel like you’re drinking a pool of mud with gasses.
The second you drink the potion, the landscape will begin to change. The fog will disappear, and be replaced with a beautiful forest, rivalling the woods of Tiranwnn. The cold feeling will make space for a warm, glowing sense inside, and you suddenly feel very happy.
[You]: Whoa! That was quite the sensation! I don’t remember you saying I would feel warm inside, and very happy.
Ivyon: It is the effect of the Walleya.
[You]: What’s a Walleya?
Orlando: It’s the forest.
[You]: Oh, that makes more sense. I suppose.
Orlando: It’s not supposed to make sense. Have you forgotten our mission, [You]?
[You]: No, of course not! What were we doing again?
Orlando: -sigh- We were trying to prevent the destruction of Runescape, caused by the evil Dungeon Overlord Mycoloth, who would destroy everything in it’s path seeking revenge for the injustice that was done to him, remember?
[You]: Sure, I guess.
- Spoiler:
Ivyon: We must get going. Before we do though, you need a name. I have a few options, pick one.
[You]: Don’t I already have a name?
Ivyon: A name to get around in these parts, of course. Now, judging by your gender and profession, these are the possible names you could take:
(Male)
1) Vear
2) Vlayr
3) Enngeth
4) Ynndal
(Female)
1) Jhanna
2) Dhera
3) Kallan
4) Sephiora
Choose the name you want to use.
Ivyon: Good! From now on, you shall be known as [Alternate name].
(NOTE: For the ease of things, I will pick a name to use, to make it a bit easier to keep it all apart.)
Ivyon: Are you ready, Ynndal?
[You]: I’m ready. Let’s get started.
Ivyon: Off we go then. Follow me.
Ivyon now starts walking. Follow the direction he is headed. He’ll stop walking right before you can’t see him anymore, and he’ll start walking when you talk to him again. Eventually, he will lead you to a gate.
When you approach the gate, a voice will shout:
Gate Guard: Errdek ne?
Ivyon: Doudou zeti. Emmyar Ivyon, Aen era Ynndal. Ynndal dou emm dagar, era sou hetn dara.
Gate Guard: Sakyo de, Ivyon, Aen era Ynndal. Yoro tilig Aera.
Ivyon: Daer. Shaki dezo nago.
[You]: What the hell are you saying!?
Ivyon: Oh, forgive me. I forgot that you do not speak the language of Ydr. Allow me.
Ivyon places his hands on your head, chants a few words, and you suddenly find yourself back at the gate, before the conversation with the guard. You have a strange feeling, and know that you have learned a few useful tricks.
Walk towards the gates again. The voice will shout out to you again:
~~Cutscene~~
Gate Guard: Who goes there?
Ivyon: We are friends. Our names are Ivyon, Aen and Ynndal. Ynndal is a newcomer, and I will take full responsibility for him.
Gate Guard: Pass Ivyon, Aen and Ynndal, friends of Aera.
Ivyon: Thank you. We will leave you now.
[You]: What just happened?
Ivyon: How do you mean Ynndal?
[You]: You did something to me. You were speaking some weird language at first, and then you did something to me. We suddenly were back where we were before, and I could then understand what you said! I want an explanation, and not some more tricks!
Ivyon: What insolence! I have given you the powers of Aera, and you dare insult me? Tricks? I’ll have you know, that was very powerful magic!
[You]: Whoa, calm down… Just tell me how you did it, ok?
Ivyon: -Grumble- Fine.
I am a direct descendant of Galor Këtsuk. It was he, along with 3 more heroes, who imprisoned Mycoloth in his Sealed Coffin. Thanks to my connection to him, I have a certain ability, a bloodline limit, if you will. Only the ones that posses the blood of me or one of my ancestors can use it. I cast a simple spell on you, so that you would understand our conversations, and not fall out of the basket. This spell, however, is part of my bloodline limit, and I am currently the only one who is able to use it.
[You]: Ok, sure. I’m not sure I understand, but at least you explained it.
Ivyon: -sigh- You’ll see soon enough.
Orlando: My Lord, it is time that you left us.
Ivyon: You are correct Aen, my duty is done. Bring [You] to the Elders, they will be pleased to see him.
Orlando: Yes My Lord.
The screen then fades out, and when it fades back in, you’re standing in front of an enormous building.
Orlando: I wish to speak with Lord Aran.
Master Guard: Who are you?
Orlando: I am Aen, Third High Councillor of the Vess. And this is my guest, Ynndal.
Master Guard: Wait here.
The Master Guard goes inside the building, and after a few seconds, he comes back out.
Master Guard: Third High Councillor, you may enter. Your guest must stay outside.
Orlando: Ynndal is of the utmost importance, I will not enter without him/her.
Master Guard: Are you sure, High Councillor?
Orlando: Yes. Tell Lord Aran that if he wants to hear what I have to say, that it will be in the presence of Ynndal.
Master Guard: Yes Sir. Please wait here.
The Master Guard goes inside again, and he stays out a bit longer this time. When he eventually comes out, he will allow you to enter.
Master Guard: Lord Aran has agreed to your conditions. If you would please follow me.
You’ll follow the Master Guard in. When you enter the building, you’re in a majestic room, decorated in all colours possibly imaginable. Among the Eastern and Western walls are 4 doors. On the Northern part of the room, there is a long table. At the head of the table, one person is seated.
Orlando: It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?
Lord Aran: It sure has, my friend. Time has been kind to you.
Orlando: As to you, Mylord.
Lord Aran: (laughing) Oh please Aen, there is no need for these formalities. We both know each other too good.
Orlando: I'm sorry Aran, but I'm not here for chatter. I'm afraid we have encountered a lightly put “distressing” dilemma.
Lord Aran: So I’ve heard.
[You]: Excuse me.
Lord Aran: Who is this?
Orlando: This is Ynndal, the guest I took here.
Lord Aran: You brought someone from outside here?
[You]: Did he do something wr-
Lord Aran: Quiet! You have no business here.
Orlando: Actually, he does. This is the one who slew Yengor, the Medusa and the Scorpicore. He has opened the Doors of the Triangle, and has unravelled the secrets of long ago. He/She is has every reason to be involved in this.
Lord Aran: So this is all your fault!? Thanks to you, the Seals of Mycoloth have been weakened, and we cannot hold him back much longer! Why, I should just kill you where you stand!
[You]: Be quiet! I hear something.
Lord Aran: Be quiet? You’re telling ME to be quiet!? You!? An outsider!? I will not stand for this insolence!
[You]: Damn it, shut up!
Lord Aran: Guards! Remove this outsider from – oomph!
You punch Lord Aran in the stomach.
[You]: Now be quiet, and let him finish.
Lord Aran: You’ll… Pay for this…
Orlando: [You]! What do you think you’re doing!?
[You]: Do you want some to? If you don’t, shut your yap already.
Orlando: …
At that moment, the Northern part of the floor explodes. You grab Orlando and Lord Aran, and throw them out of the way. As the dust clears, it appears that besides the floor, nothing was damaged.
Lord Aran: [You]! This is all your fault!
-Your character throws a warning look in Lord Aran’s direction-
Lord Aran: Uhm… I mean… Th-there is no reason as to why you should still remain in this city.
[You]: Oh, put a sock in it.
-A worrying cry echoes through the room-
[You]: Get behind me, the both of you. I know that sound…
Orlando: You do, [You]?
[You]: Stay here.
Your character prepares to venture into the hole created by the explosion. Right before you enter it, you will be given the opportunity to bank by Orlando. Take out everything you need in order to kill a Tormented Demon solo, without any stat boosts. It would be advised to bring a lightsource, because it’ll be dark down there. Orlando also informs you about this, so you won’t have to go back up to get it.
When you’re prepared, go down into the hole. You will occasionally hear more of it’s screams, and pieces of the cave may fall down whilst you’re running through them, damaging you for up to 200 lifepoints. Eventually, you’ll come face to face with the Tormented Demon.
Tormented Demon: -Grunt-
[You]: How did you get here?
Tormented Demon: -Growl-
[You]: Well, no matter how you got here, I'll release you.
You then fight the Demon, and when you kill it, it’ll drop an Essence Talisman. When you pick it up, a giant structure will rise out of the ground. You’ll find that the entrance is an altar, but you don’t know how to open it. Head back to Orlando and Lord Aran.
[You]: I'm back.
Orlando: [You]! How did it go? What was it?
[You]: A Tormented Demon. An undead demon that is burning, and consists out of a metallic and organic “body”, by lack of a better name. It’s supposed to be located underneath Lumbridge, and I have no idea of how it got here.
Lord Aran: You attract monstrous beings towards us! I told him you were bad luck! I told you, didn’t I, Aen?
Orlando: Quiet, Aran. Let him/her finish.
[You]: When I killed it, it dropped a peculiar talisman. Have any of you two seen this before?
You show them the talisman.
Lord Aran: By the Gods! An Essence Talisman! Please tell me you didn’t touch it with your bare hands!
[You]: I did, why?
Lord Aran: Dear Temis! Lay down immediately!
[You]: Why? What’s wrong?
Lord Aran: You’ve been poisoned. If you move too much, your soul will be split from this realm, and your body here will rot, but you will be unable to die. The body of a being isn’t mortal, it’s the soul. Without the soul, the body will rot and be destroyed. Or, if what you just told us is correct, the body can rejuvenate and become one of those things.
[You]: -Gulp- Okay.
Lord Aran: Medic!
A Medic appears in the room.
Ydrian Healer: You called, Sir?
Lord Aran: Yes. Take [You] out of here at once! He has come into contact with an Essence Talisman. Keep him in Quarantine for now, and try to heal him.
Ydrian Healer: Right away Sir!
The Ydrian Healer teleports your character out, and now only Lord Aran and Orlando remain in the room.
Orlando: Aran.
Lord Aran: What is it?
Orlando: I'm going to a special place. I found a particularly interesting book once, speaking of a race of fox-like creatures with incredible capabilities. They’re only stories though, they probably aren’t even true. But still, it’s worth trying.
Lord Aran: Very well.
Orlando: Goodbye for now.
Orlando then teleports to Morytania, near the entrance to Zavionce. As he searches the area, he suddenly notices a shady figurine running past him. He then decides to follow the person, and it’ll lead him to the Gates near Zavionce. Gates suddenly appear before him, and he is awestruck. The Shade then enters the Gates, after which they begin to fade… Orlando quickly jumps into them, after which the Gates completely disappear.
¤~¤ Chapter V: The Desecration of Seravail ¤~¤
(Written partly by Blaziken Ff8/VerdantVulpe)
- Spoiler:
‘He had expected the daunting figure to hold connections with the werewolves, he had expected its lurching in this region of Morytania to lead to naught but trouble. Though he’d never have expected such a pristine and immaculate gate of crystal – something which clashed violently with the region’s gloom - to be its destination, or that it would lead to such a lush and beautiful settlement once stepped through!
(s u) Orlando: I – Impossible! That gate, it... was that teleportation!?
(s u) Orlando: This city, could it be?... there was only a small article about it in the libraries, but it-
‘Before he could think further, a jewel-edged yet brutal spear was suddenly directed at his neck from behind. Shock took Orlando as he saw that its wielder was none other than a werefox! The small legends he’d read upon were true!? The same welcoming and charming demeanour he’d heard about however, didn’t seem to shine in this guard’s piercing amber eyes...
(a) {Guard}: We seem to have had quite a few hindering “visitors” of late...
(s) Orlando: ...
‘The guard quickly let his eyes search around the man, never even so much as twitching his spear.’
(o) {Guard}: What’s your business?...
(s) Orlando: I-I’m looking for someone. A being proceeded through that odd gateway before me, did you happen to see them?
(a) {Guard}: Unfortunately for your excuse, I haven’t. I’ll ask again-
‘Orlando quickly brings out a parchment with your signature’
(s) Orlando: I’m a friend of [You]’s. I give you my word!
‘The guard shows surprise, and thinks a moment before lowering his weapon and continuing...’
(o) {Guard}: Hmm... my apologies. There’s been a demand in heightened security of late. There’s been an outbreak of vandalism and thievery within the city walls. The elders are having a tough time deciding what should truly be done.
(t) Orlando: The elders?... Hmm, maybe they’ve seen who I’m looking for.
You’ll now have control over Orlando, and by participating in the Zavionce quests, you’ll know where to find the Sanctum of Solace, where the elders reside.
The only elder inside – marked by his highly prestigious garb – will be a male named Zidex. Speak to him to continue.
(t) Orlando: Erm... excuse me...
‘Zidex, having looked deep in thought, shows frightful shock once Orlando addresses him, and a far sterner attitude than he’d have expected from any werefox he’d heard of.’
(a) Zidex: Huh!? Wh-what? What is it!? I’ve not the time to waste on any human!
(s h) Orlando: ...You’re sure you’re an elder?...
(a) Zidex: What was that!?
(t) Orlando: Err.. nothing! My pardons sir, but I’ve been looking for someone. Someone entered your city not long before me, a rather shady figure. I’d been following him through Morytania before he summoned a crystalline gate to travel here! I don’t supposed you’ve caught wind of them?
‘Zidex thinks to himself momentarily before expressing a sly smile...’
(d) Zidex: I see... my name is Zidex, visitor, and as you may’ve heard, our fair city has suffered from a sudden wave of malicious disregard!
(l) Zidex: Opening our doors to the human world... you would’ve thought the werefoxes wiser than that!
(s h) Orlando: ...
(d) Zidex: The perpetrator remains uncaught, but perhaps this “shady figure” of yours is who we’re after? Attend to a little duty for me, and you may find your man!
(o) Orlando: Well, what needs done?
(s h) Zidex: I have here a group of explosives, timed to go off at night and release a potent sleeping gas. If placed in the Seravail Forria, our little vandal should be caught unwary! If it’s the man you’ve been searching for, then it’s all the better.
[Zidex hands Orlando 8 Drowse-Explosives]
(d) Zidex: Place those in the Seravail Forria where nobody’s watching. That way no one will know they’re planted, and our pest will be none the wiser!
(s) Orlando: I’ve read about the Seravail Forria. The mystical forest near the edge of Zavionce. Why do I have to place the bombs there?
(a) Zidex: Where else would they hide out of sight!? Don’t question one of the Elders, it may very well be the last thing you ever do, do you hear me?
(t) Orlando: Yes, Elder Zidex! My apologies.
Orlando automatically places 7 of the Drowse-Explosives. All of the places where he planted one, will gain a white arrow on your minimap. When he gets ready to place the eighth, Zendith intervenes.
(a) Zendith: What do you think you’re doing!?
(s) Orlando: I-I’m placing sleeping bombs in order to catch the vandal who has been terrorizing Zavionce.
(a) Zendith: Sleeping bombs? Those are real explosives! What game do you think you’re playing? Who are you, and what is your business here?
(s) Orlando: Real explosives? I’m sorry, I didn’t know! I’m not trying to play any game, I swear!
(sus) Zendith: Do not make me repeat my question again, outsider. Who are you, and what business have you here?
(s) Orlando: My name is Orlando Smith, a friend of [You]’s!
(su) Zendith: A friend of [You]’s, you say?
(s) Orlando: Yes, I came here because of him/her. When I got here, Elder Zidex asked me to place these bombs in the Seravail Forria, in order to catch the crook!
(o) Zendith: My name is Zendith, and I am and Elder of Zavionce. I have worked closely with [You], and I know him/her well. I’m afraid I do not know this Elder Zidex you speak of.
(su) Orlando: Wait, if you don’t know Elder Zidex, who told me to place these bombs?
(d) Zendith: I’m afraid this Zidex person is the one you are looking for.
(s) Zendith: Wait a minute – The bombs! We have to disarm them immediately! If they explode, the consequences could be catastrophic! All of the beings inside the Seravail Forria could perish, and the survivors could tear down Zavionce!
(re) Orlando: You go back to Zavionce, you have to evacuate the city immediately. I’ll try and disarm the bombs.
(tf) Zendith: Alright. Hurry up, Orlando Smith!
Now head back to the 7 white arrows, disarm the bombs, and head back to Zavionce.
(sus) Guard: Halt! Who goes there?
(im) Orlando: Orlando Smith! I must speak with Elder Zendith!
(o) Guard: Very well. Elder Zendith told us about you. Hurry up, he’s waiting inside the Sanctum of Solace.
The Guard lets you through the gates, and you automatically go to the Sanctum of Solace.
Talk to Zendith there.
(rl) Zendith: Orlando! You’ve returned! Have you retrieved the bombs?
(sr) Orlando: Yes, I have.
(rl) Zendith: Good.
(sr) Zendith: Then I believe you have some business with the so-called “Elder” Zidex. We’ve managed to track him down, and he’s being held captive in the dungeon as we speak.
(o) Orlando: Thank you.
(o) Orlando: Elder Raydion, might I request for some of the Elders to come along with me? I fear that he may use more of his tricks, trying to get out. If I have some Elders with me, they could tell me if what he says is true or not.
(t) Raydion: Very well then. Zendith will accompany you, along with Aiven and Cassandra.
(o) Orlando: Thank you.
(sr) Orlando: Let’s go.
¤ Sub-chapter I: Massacre in the Sanctum
(sr) Zendith: We’re approaching his cell row now, be cautious. You never know what he might still have up his sleeve.
(t) Orlando: Isn’t he unarmed?
(sr) Cassandra: Even an unarmed creature is a dangerous one. If you back an animal into a corner, it will turn vicious to escape. I have seen men killing dozens of other men with nothing but their bare hands, some would even bite out of their unfortunate victims. If that is the insanity a man can be drove to, think of what a Werefox could do.
(s) Orlando: I get it, I’ll be careful.
As Orlando approached the cell, he got an un-easy feeling, as if there is something that could pose a threat to him lurking behind the door. Determined to question Zidex, he shook the feeling off of him. He saw Aiven reach out for the door’s handle, push it down, and open the door. The sight he saw after that was one he would never forget.
All of the prisoners were dead, their blood and organs scattered around the walls.
(u) Orlando: Who did this?
(d) Aiven: Can you really think of no-one?
(u) Orlando: Zidex. But why would he?
(d) Aiven: To save himself. Zidex knows something, and he doesn’t want us to find out what it is.
(a) Orlando: So he killed all these people?
(d) Zendith: It would seem so.
(s) Cassandra: The city! If he’s not here, he must be in the city!
(d) Orlando: He’s not in the city.
(s) Cassandra: How could you possibly know that?
(d) Orlando: Because his head is lying over there.
Orlando pointed out to a corner in the nearest cell, where the head of Zidex lay separated from his former owner. The eyes were opened wide in terror, the mouth screamed in awe. As he slowly walked towards the head, he suddenly noticed something underneath it.
(ca) Orlando: It’s… Lying on top of something.
(ca) Zendith: Hold on, I’ll get it.
He watched the Werefox cautiously tread in front of him. When he got to the head, he mumbled a few words, carefully picked up the head, placed it on the ground as if it was his own, and picked up what it had been placed on.
(c) Zendith: It’s a book.
(t) Orlando: Open it, see what it’s about.
(c) Zendith: It says here that it’s the property of Yannis. I think it’s a Diary.
(t) Orlando: Yannis… I think I’ve heard that name before…
(c) Orlando: Could I read it?
(o) Zendith: Of course. Here, take it.
(t) Orlando: Thanks.
Diary of Yannis
Page 1
‘As I regained consciousness, I immediately checked myself for wounds. I looked alright at first sight, so I decided to stand up and look for survivors. The ruins of my once great town stared at me as if they were shouting out in agony. With every step I took through the dead bodies, many of whom I recognised to be friends or family, my anger grew. How could he have done this? I swore vengeance upon the one who’d killed everything I knew, everything I loved, even everything I hated. I might as well have been dead myself.
Page 2
My life had been destroyed, my entire reason for living reduced to one thing: To kill the one who killed me. I will stop it nothing to achieve my goal: The death of Mycoloth, who will soon rest forever in his precious dungeons.’
(t) Orlando: It says here that Yannis was attacked by Mycoloth. Mycoloth killed everything he knew, and left his town in ruins. He then swore vengeance on him, vowing that he would stop it nothing to kill Mycoloth.
(c) Aiven: Who is this “Mycoloth” you speak of?
(sr) Orlando: Mycoloth is a demonic being. He is a Fresc, an old race that went extinct in the early Third Age. I can tell you the tale, if you want.
(c) Aiven: Please do, it sounds quite interesting.
(c) Cassandra: I agree with Aiven.
(c) Zendith: I’m not sure I want to know, but it’s best to know your enemy.
(sr) Orlando: Alright then.
(my) Orlando: Orlando: To understand this, I must tell you a tale of a long, long time ago(…)
(sr) Orlando: So you see, we have to stop him from breaking the Seal.
(am) Cassandra: This is grave news indeed! If this Mycoloth had destroyed so much, it would be disastrous if he would run loose again!
(sr) Zendith: We must speak with Raydion. He may know more of what we should do.
(sr) Orlando: Alright then. Let’s go.
- Spoiler:
(sr) Orlando: Elder Raydion, I have a request to make.
[The scene blacks out, and when it fades back in, Orlando will have explained the situation]
(sr) Raydion: Very well. We shall assist you in your battle, but know that we shall withdraw our forces if the battle becomes too dangerous.
(tf) Orlando: Thank you, Elder Raydion. I have one last request though.
(c) Raydion: Yes?
(o) Orlando: [You] is very sick. He/She has a running fever, and is hallucinating. I fear that he/she will die if we do not take care of him/her.
(sr) Raydion: I see… I will send a medical team with you.
(ca) Zendith: Elder Raydion, I would like to accompany them as well.
(c) Raydion: Oh? And why might this be, Zendith?
(ca) Zendith: [You] and I have worked together closely, and I’m concerned about him/her. I would like to monitor the situation, and keep a close eye on [You].
(t) Raydion: I see. And you are sure you wish to go?
(re) Zendith: Yes, I am.
(o) Raydion: Very well then. You may accompany Orlando and the Medical team to Ydr.
(tf) Zendith: Thank you, Elder Raydion.
(sr) Zendith: Orlando, we should really get going.
(sr) Orlando: I understand. Take this.
(c) Zendith: What is this?
(o) Orlando: It’s a Teleportation Orb. Break it, and we’ll go to Ydr.
(h) Zendith: That’s convenient!
(o) Orlando: I know. Alright, smash it on the ground when you’re ready.
(o) Zendith: Okay, here we go!
Zendith smashes the Teleportation Orb on the floor.
(sr) Orlando: Elder Raydion.
(c) Raydion: Yes?
(sr) Orlando: If Mycoloth breaks free, Zavionce will be one of the first places he will stumble upon. Reinforce your city, ready your men, and be on your guard.
(sr) Raydion: I will. Thanks for the warning. The Medical Team is waiting for you near [You]. Be fast. I fear we cannot survive this war without him/her.
Orlando grins a bit, and then smashes the Orb.
(im) Zendith: Take me to [You], Orlando!
(sr) Orlando: Of course, immediately.
-
‘It burns... I feel like my insides are on fire… When will this stop? This accursed torment of mine… I swear… I will get my revenge on you… I will destroy you… [Player Name].
-
(s) Orlando: Here he/she is. Please, can you do anything to help?
(t) Zendith: I’ll try.
(t) Zendith: You. Give me your pouch.
(s) Werefox: O-of course, Elder Zendith. Here.
As the young Werefox gave his pouch to Zendith, he watched whilst Zendith concocted a medicine from the various ingredients in it. Finally, Zendith cut himself, and let a drop of his blood fall into the vial.
(sr) Zendith: Orlando, you must do this too.
(c) Orlando: Why?
(im) Zendith: The blood of a Werefox has a few healing qualities, in the sense that we recover from injuries or diseases faster than normal humans. However, the blood of a Werefox mixed with that of a human could cause great instability in the human’s system. Therefore, a drop of human blood must be added to anything which contains a Werefox’s blood, to balance it out. That person’s blood will then neutralise the Werefox’s blood destructive capabilities, letting it bond with whoever receives the blood.
(s) Orlando: Alright then, if you say so.
(s) Orlando: Here goes nothing!
Orlando cut his arm, and squeezed some blood out of it. Zendith caught it in a small bowl, and then poured it into the liquid. The second the liquid connected with the blood, it started bubbling like it was boiling, and shifted colours from green to red, then blue, and finally white.
(t) Zendith: There, that should do it.
(o) Zendith: Hold open his/her mouth for me please.
(h) Orlando: Anything to save [You]
When Orlando opened the mouth of [You], Zendith poured in the potion.
(im) Orlando: So when will he/she wake up?
(o) Zendith: Patience, my human friend. This is a highly unstable cure, and it will take some time to fully heal-
(p) [You]: *cough* What? Where am I? *cough*
(am) Zendith: Impossible! I only gave you the cure a few moments ago! You’re supposed to be in rehabilitation for at least another week!
(p) [You]: Not so *cough* loud, please…
(h) Orlando: [You]! You’re alright again!
(c) [You]: Again? When was I *cough* not alright?
(sr) Zendith: You were poisoned. You’d found an Essence Talisman, which will, if touched without special protection, poison and kill whatever it comes to contact with.
(su) [You]: Zendith! Is it really you!?
(h) Zendith: Yes, [You], it is. It would seem that fate has brought us together again
(sh) Zendith: Although…
(d) Zendith: Not for the reason I’d been hoping. I’m afraid that we are, once again, at war. Our enemy is easily as dangerous as Gexviolt, and I fear there is no way we can beat them without your help.
(sr) [You]: Yes, I know about that.
(t) [You]: But still… That Tormented Demon… Why would Lucien be involved with this?
[OR, in case we get a continuation on WGS before this quest, and we kill Lucien]
(t) [You]: But still… That Tormented Demon… That’s one of Lucien’s tricks… But he’s dead. It has to be Mycoloth…
(d) Zendith: [You], there is something I need to show you. I’d found this book in the prison below the Sanctum of Solace, and it reminds me of something, but I can’t remember who, or what. I was hoping that perhaps you would have an idea.
(sr) [You]: Well, give it to me then. I’ll have a look at it.
Diary of Yannis

23rd of Raktuber, Year 2356 of the Third Age
It has been four months since the destruction of my home town. I dread to think what has happened to my family and friends. I have disposed of one of Mycoloth’s wretched Guards, but there still are 3 left. I must retreat for now, and continue my attack later.
Page 4
27th of Raktuber, Year 2356 of the Third Age
Curse you, Mycoloth! By the Gods, I will rip you out of history! I came across another small town in my constant pursue of his savage trail of destruction. Compared to this, it would appear like nothing happened to my home of Vixe. All buildings were nearly completely destroyed, leaving behind nothing but an imprint of death, despair and misery. I fear that if I do not stop Mycoloth sometime soon, he will meddle in The Great War, which is something I simply cannot allow! As his mental powers exceed those of a God, he could kill them with nothing more than a thought.
Page 5
But still, maybe the combined forces of the Gods will be enough to bring him down.
Regardless of that, I cannot let this rampage continue for much longer. I have to take him out, before the entirety of Gielinor is wiped from existence. We live in cursed times, and I fear that I will not make it. But I have to keep hoping. For my family, my friends. For the village which I have just crossed. For all of Gielinor. I have to kill Mycoloth. I have promised you before, you accursed monster: I will rip you out of history! You will pay for this! Be certain of that!
You notice that there are a lot of pages missing.

3rd of Wintumber, Year 2361 of the Third Age
At last my quest is over. For over five years I have hunted down Mycoloth, and helped those whom he had attacked. And now, after all that time, I have successfully entered his ranks, and locked him away for good. I wish I would be able to kill him, but his power is far greater than my own. With the united strength of my friends, Pharsach and Risanc, we have robbed him of his mental capabilities. He is now locked away deep in the bellows of Ydr, where he will remain for the rest of eternity. My goal is fulfilled, and I now have little more reason to live. Nevertheless, I will hide
Page 42
Myself in the city of Ydr, in case Mycoloth should ever break free again. I have cast a spell over Pharsach and Risanc, so that at least they could pass on peacefully, while I stand guard over this monstrosity. Until they die, Pharsach will be known as Legion Ngoya, I will be known as Galor Ketsük, and Risanc will be known as Viri Cardiküs.
You notice that there are some more pages missing.

5th of Novtumber, Year 168 of the Fifth Age
Mycoloth has begun stirring again. In my current state, I am unable to keep him sealed for much longer. I’ve grown old, and weary, and I have not found myself an apprentice. My only hope is that my child will do it in my stead. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope to meet you before my magic fades completely.
Your loving father,
Yannis Mycus.
(u) [You]: Yannis...
(h) [You]: I will carry out your quest for you. I will find your child, and we will face this threat, and I promise you that we will find a way to destroy Mycoloth.
(c) [You]: What’s this?
(c) Zendith: What’s what?
(t) [You]: There’s something stuck in the edge. Hold on, let me take it out.
(c) Orlando: Well, what is it?
(am) [You]: It’s a picture of me…
(su) Zendith: [You]! You’re the descendant!
(s) [You]: But… How? I don’t have any special powers.
(sa) Zendith: Sure, sure. So the fact that you have control over 4 different kinds of spells, have saved many kinds of civilisations, can kill things that even the strongest human should never be able to, the mere fact that you’re able to use our Gem-tipped weaponry without years of training or whatever other fact, don’t matter?
(s) [You]: I- I don’t know…
-Coming soon!

Just go to an A-Z of names and select Welsh.
Even the locations are in Welsh. Tirannwn basically means Heaven - the land of eternal youth, pleasure, etc.
