Post by Zectiox Wed Mar 09, 2011 9:37 pm

First topic message reminder :

well my idea was to get a thread of everything we got so far over Toba and Caldorin (pallis). not the inhabitants but the locations. The forests, the mountains everything..

Dark Avorian wrote something in the Geography thread about the brinks, sunken sea etc. Is that the final name of the location or just the name of the fenomenal.. we got 2-3 sunken sea areas in Toba. Is this just named Northern, Southern and Eastern Sunken Sea. Or shall we have names of the places there too even if its now the sunken sea. i.e. Achurn (as the name of the Northern Sunken Sea?)

We got 3 mountains. Dark Avorian named one of them where the Diminors are living.

Well just come with suggestions of names of these locations. take the map which Empty created in the geography thread on page 6.

Take one position:
Spoiler:
Name it, take a good name for it also Tongue

Im just trying to make it easier to locate one thing or another on the map of Pallis. Instead of having "Northern mountains of Toba" etc. Tongue

(I have done this thread once before, but firefox crashed so lost everything -.-)

I didn't really change the mountains did I? Tongue

What "rock" looks like, I don't know if there's any real-life terrains that look like this.

You know, we could make up terrains. Smile

well on the first map we hade the mountain seprate the rainforest and the desert but now we have the mountain at the edges Tongue no offence just a notice ;D

well now you chought my eyes of making own terrains Grin Yeah im so in to making new terrains, for that picture example lookling like rockyspikes but what we could call the terrain, hmm... It could have a name like "Dràgdunes" from dragoons and dunes Tongue If I understood it right the rocks "lives" Tongue

I meant more combinations of fauna and flora that don't necessarily exist on Earth, I don't mean we have to make up words. Tongue

oh sry missunderstood xD well that explains the "desert - tropic" solution. it could work Grin and.. hmm the desert have 2 lakes on each side, so... so much sense doesn't it make really xD but this is our world so the desert could be in the middle of a wet-dominant terrain... as the rainforest for example.. so leave it be this way Grin (if you know what I mean, or did I talk to much gibbrish?) well anyway. The new terrain-idea is great, making "impossible" real-life terrains working in games. you know. Everything can happend in a game. so why not start with the terrain, even if we shall stay inside the frames and dont make like Volcanic terrain surrounding something alot different.. idk, i dont have any ideas atm, but maybe coming some during the weekend or so...

great, but I have yet another problem! Tongue

I know Caldorin is supposed to expand to bother polar regions of the planet which Gielinor lies upon... so where is Toba's taiga region, or will both countries lie in the southern hemisphere to the first half of the northern hemisphere?

*shrugs*

Maybe I should add a lot more oceans, and make much more areas?

Have Canada through to Argentina, although reverse the direction (south Canada at the Bottom)... in the middle we have the Amazon, but there's polar, desertous, plains, grasslands, etc, on both sides. Smile

you could always try really, it could look nice, for a little change (a big one really). And yes more more areas.

Canada in the south, maybe sibiria somewhere? (with their forests..) and then yes.. as you say, everything that on both sides sounds great, just try to make a larger (and a bit different) map. Smile

If we're making a "new" map we could put diminors in a own "land", caldorin, toba and the diminorian "kingdom"... Maybe a little australia (minor race and culture)

just a suggestion

The diminor don't really make sense outside. They offer an organization, a miltary force, and a magical presence that dwarfs all others because they actually have effective broader government. But they reproduce slowly, and are a small population, so they can't really support themselves. They've partnered with a portion of the Dwallow, otherqise they'd be pointless.

I prefer it to Photoshop as a drawing application due to it's vector-based platform. Smile

But is it go ahead on redesigning the map or should I just split up the existing map more?
