Re: Chat: Scape
Tomorrow's to-do list:
-Flesh out Ents, Dwarves and Xayid
-Create a category for cities and write articles for Dawn, Fawkes, Lavenski, The Complex, The Glass City and any other settlements that are either needed or who's existence has been implied and I will need help with this
-Have a nice long chat about mechanics and get the page filled in
-Make minor tweaks to Graaft so that they match Scape rather than Runescape
Should be a nice lazy day then...
PS: Dusk, I'll check spelling and grammar for you

I just corrected spelling and punctuation for now but I may restructure the paragraph to make it read slightly better later. Then again, I may leave it, it's fine how it is...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's done, tell me if it's too bad, here's the link http://suggestion.wikia.com/wiki/Glass_City it might need a bit of rewording, and a grammar and spelling check. But, I am quite satisfied with it

Re: Chat: Scape
I'm not going to lie, I was apprehensive (I thought you might make the antare still occupying it, or something). But I like it.
I only have two objections:
- Pallis is and always was godless. The closest things to gods upon Pallis are the Forerunner (Primal) in Caldorin and the Spirits in Toba. The Antare are free to have their own beliefs, but a temple-of-collective-worship seems like a lost cause when they would be the only religion. Note that the gods in Janzar are dead (/believed to be/most are)... although the Janzar gods wouldn't be known to Pallis, so... my point is, the temple seems very focal for something that has no use.
- The crystallized antare. Note sure if I like the idea. It would be cool and all... like that scene in Gears of War with the ash-statues that crumble when you walk through them. But I'm not sure-- well, they aren't made of sand. This was more a personal iffy. It's fine though.

I think we need to decide at exactly what point Janzar and Pallis became aware of one another's existence. I always imagined it was in the Age of Gods, meaning Antare could've had deities. Clearly you think it's much later...

Also, I'd really question whether the Glass City in Pallis could be seen all the way from Dawn in Janzar and if so, how the two could ever have been oblivious to one another...

Re: Chat: Scape
3mpty: It was more like an area were the Antares would build temples of religions they incorporated, let's say that an Antares found a group of dwallows worshipping something, and he felt that said worship fitted him, and that it shoudn't go to waste. He'd go back to the Glass City were he'd build a temple for it. Plus, you don't need gods walking among the mortals to begin a religion 3mpty
Slayer: Srry, I forgot that Dawn was on Janzar, is there a dwallow town that could replace Dawn? And if not, well, we can always said they though the spires were mountains or something like that

Re: Chat: Scape
True, you can have religion for make-believe gods. But when gods are known to have existed it's hard to make people believe in fairytales. I still think the temple has no place on Pallis. In Janzar it would be perfect... if the antare were all about knowledge: then there would be plenty to dig up on the old gods.
@Slayer, we could always introduce a religion or religions into Janzar. I guess Dusk is right, even if my first two sentences disagreed.

Re: Chat: Scape
WHile that would work on Janzar, as you said 3mpty, there were never gods on Pallis, so it makes sense that on Pallis there are make-believe religions, I mean, intelligent beings will always look for some superior being, and most of the time, it takes the form of a Divinity. And, well, they could have reached Janzar

Re: Chat: Scape
It doesn't make sense for the reason there aren't gods in the first place. I'm not above creating gods that aren't walking: the Faun worship the Dae't, whom are more symbolic than actual gods.
The reason there aren't gods on Pallis is coincidental of the cultures/races.
• In Toba, the only races were the Antare and mogrul. And the Antare are now extinct. Even if the mogrul believed in gods; these would not be in your monastery.
• In Caldoran, we have multiple races and I suppose the that the Raani might have a goddess. I can't speak for the Diminor; but the Dwallow aren't the believing kind. They will believe you if you tell them that a god exists, and would probably worship them if you told them they had to... but they would treat it like a job or chore. Dwallow don't conceive the notion of fate or higher purpose. If you tell them that God exists, they'll believe you. They have no gods of their own: they only know what is.

Well, you've contradicted yourself now. And, most likely, several cults worship one or more FOrerunners

Re: Chat: Scape
So what we're basically saying is there are no Gods in Pallis simply because they'd all rather have been in Janzar, where races actually wanted them and would worship them?

I think that's correct. I still stand firm in the belief that, mostl ikely, there were some cults/pimitive religions on Pallis

3mpty, would you be alright if I made an offshot of the Antare that arrived in Janzar after travelling the sea of clouds? They'd be a mix of crabs and praying mantis

Re: Chat: Scape
Is that a yes, or a no? Take into consideration that this offshot would refer to the Antare as the "Forefathers" or "Desert Dwellers"

Re: Chat: Scape
I personally think that a race can hardly be extinct nor mysterious if there's a thriving community in Janzar. I'm not fond of the idea, sorry.

Re: Chat: Scape
mm, how, can I tell you this, they are not "Antare", they have taken up their own path in life, in many ways, they are different from the ANtare, the only connection to them, would be vague memories of them, they don't even remember the name of their former race

"Well, you've contradicted yourself now. And, most likely, several cults worship one or more FOrerunners"
1) Where was I contradicting myself?
2) The Forerunner aren't gods though, nor do they believe them to do.
"I think we need to decide at exactly what point Janzar and Pallis became aware of one another's existence. I always imagined it was in the Age of Gods, meaning Antare could've had deities. Clearly you think it's much later..."
I wasn't overly planning on it being a historic date. When it was part of RuneScape, there was not date... it was discovered by Callum. Given how communication works without the internet or even an established postal system, we could really choose any date and it still wouldn't be common knowledge. So whenever, I suppose.
"So what we're basically saying is there are no Gods in Pallis simply because they'd all rather have been in Janzar, where races actually wanted them and would worship them?"
I suppose. The mogrul would regard them with sarcasm, similar to Bandos' followers (excluding their opinion of Bandos). "Go away shiny man!". In RS lore, Saradomin described them as godless barbarians.

1) When you said htere might be gods
2) But as it often happens with beings with such power, they tend to get deificated by the races they helped develop

1) I said the Raani might have a goddess.
2) There aren't such races. The Forerunner developed society.
